Once again it is time to join in the Holiday festivities in Anacortes. Activities include Christmas Tree Lighting ceremonies to Getting your dog photos with Santa .
Here are some of the upcoming events:
Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
This is hosted by the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce and will happen Friday 6th and 6pm in front of the Chamber office at Ninth St and Commcercial Ave.
Keep warm with a nice cup of hot cocoa and cookies. The town Crier will be there as well as entertainment by the Salvation Army brass band, the An-O-Cords, ACT, Fidalgo, Island View and Mount Erie Elementary school choirs. Bundle up and come on down for a fun happening.
Celebrate the Season- Gingerbread decorating Contests
Enjoy gingerbread decorating contests for adult teams and kids teams Firday December 6th from 10am to 5.30pm and Saturday 7th from noon to 2pm. Click here for more details.
Downtown Trolley Rides
Horse drawn trolley go up and down Commercial Ave stopping at various locations. These rides are FREE and are from noon to 4pm on Saturdays 14th and 21st of December.
Sponsored by the Anacortes Chamber and local retailers for your fun. Once again bundle up and enjoy the ride.
Get Your Dog's Picture with Santa
Santa's Cause for the Paws will be held at Washington Federal Savings on 1017 Commercial Ave.
When can you go: on Saturdays, December 7th and 14th from noon to 3pm. Santa will also be there on Wednesday December 11th from 6pm till 8pm.
They take donations of $10 for your photo and $25 for a CD of all photos. All proceeds go to the Charlie Randall Pet Foundation.
So dress up your pooch and have some fun with Santa!!
The Anacortes Lion's Club Christmas Parade
Anyone can participate. It is on Saturday December 7th from 11am. The parade winds it's way from 2nd Ave along Commercial Ave to Causland Park. Floats, Vans, bicycles and walkers along with horses and carriages and Fire department and Emergency vehicles strut their stuff along the parade route.
Kids can get FREE pictures with Santa and hot cocoa and cookies can be purchased from the American red Cross.
Wonderland Walk at Washington Park
Each year local groups and community organizations dress up a campsite for Christmas at Washington Park. There will be live music and hot chocolate, s'mores etc for a small donation. Bring along a flashlight and warm clothes. Lots of fun for all the family.
Washington Park is located on the west side of Anacortes. Just follow 12th St (I-20) past the ferry turnoff and keep going until you see the signs for the park.
