I'm Back! - Your favorite Mortgage Loan Originator is Back!

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that I have made a career shift (from traditional real estate) back to mortgages! As most of you know, I was a mortgage broker for 17 years prior to the market decline in 2007. The mortgage industry quickly became a sinking ship, and moving to short sales (a form of reverse underwriting; why does the Borrower NOT qualify for their loan) was the best solution. We helped over 400 families avoid foreclosure and made many new Realtor friends.

Mortgage loans were my professional passion, and I am very excited to have aligned with First Choice Bank (Carlsbad branch). I have my NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry) which means I can help borrowers secure loans in all 50 states. First Choice Bank is a full-service boutique corporation with branches throughout the United States. Our underwriting, processing and funds (nearly $1 billion) are held in-house, which means that I have full control over every loan file and am a phone call away from every decision-maker in the process. First Choice Bank has a wide variety of competitive loan products (conventional, jumbo, FHA, VA), and one of the loan products I'm most excited about is our flagship Renovation Loan.

I am excited to be a member of the First Choice Bank family and look forward to hearing from you with respect to all of your mortgage and refinancing
needs.

Thank you,

Troy Huerta

Hello Troy, I've been thinking about becoming a Loan Originator and have been doing research on the industry.  But I'm not sure that as a current Real Estate Broker, if this is the route I need to consider.  I want to offer one-stop shopping to my clients, but I want to be able to be competent in all areas.  Any ideas?

Dear MeLisa,  Each state is different.  Working for a bank (as opposed to a brokerage), I was not able to continue practicing real estate.  Prior to 2007, I was able to do both, but the market has changed.  There could be additional liability with the changes that took effect in 2014.  I would be happy to put you in touch with someone in my Texas office if you have specific questions or want to explore the mortgage lending industry further.
