Active Rain Meet Ups Are A Great Resource, Don't Miss Your Meet Up!
Yesterday in the Atlanta area we had an Active Rain Meet Up in Duluth where Rain Makers could get together with Ambassadors and network, discuss market conditions, marketing plans for 2014 and so much more. It was a great event, with a lot of outstanding knowledge and insights shared. Not only was there great learning, but I felt that several strong relationships were formed.
Forging strong alliances and friendships seemed so much easier because there was so much in common. Each of the participants:
- Is an expert in their field of either real estate or mortgages.
- Has extensive online and blogging experience (other than myself as the Active Rain newbie in the group).
- Have a wealth of expertise and knowledge much beyond your typical real estate agents.
- Are extremely professional and have very high ethics.
- Are very willing to share ideas and help each other.
- Have a strong desire to have mastermind groups and help each other.
- Are very willing to compare industry notes and experiences to come up with ideas in this ever changing market!
I learned several things from each participant, and was so thankful that each of them were so willing to give of their time to attend the meetup! I hope in the future that we will have even bigger groups and that those of you who didn't make it will come!
Special thanks particularly to:
Jim and Ellen Crawford were a wealth of information on blogging and online presence. Their market knowledge regarding Google changes, web traffic trends and insights into building teams in other markets and the importance of focus brought much to our group. Having been doing real estate since 1978 they had been through the ups and downs of several cycles and had excellent insights! Besides all of that Jim is the #4 Active Rainer in Georiga, so if you missed his insights you really missed out! He has spoken at several NAR conventions and is the principal author of the NAR online code of ethics! Not to mention that Jim and Ellen brought doughnuts!
Kathy Sheehan talked about the importance of hand written notes to bring buyers, and about how much success she had in the past delivering hand written cards to apartment complexes to land new buyers. She also is an absolute database of knowledge on all lending topics and had insights into renovation mortgage programs. Kathy is very sincere in her desire to be able to help others in any way, and she is the #9 Blogger in Georgia, so if you missed her, you missed a great resource.
Jordon Wheeler has a very sincere and helpful demeanor, he has a great deal of market knowledge and has property management and investment expertise. He's the #15 blogger in the state of Georgia on Active Rain and also a very good person to know. He and I may be able to put a couple of deals together next week! So this was fruitful networking indeed.
Sitting at the computer and driving SEO so that consumers find you through your blog is a smart thing to do, showcasing your expertise and knowledge through well written blogs that identify you as a market expert are certainly a great use of time. However, if that's all you use Active Rain for and you fail to network and learn from the other experts that reside here, you have missed one of the greatest opportunities Active Rain can provide!
