Very nice analogy here. And I got to enjoy a song I hadn't heard in years. :)
Great example of SEO, and you didn't take as long as a country song to get a point across. I have subscribed; I'm intrigued to see how long I take to break your anonymity code ;-}
Michael, Makes perfect sense to me. We've talked about this before. It just does not make sense to write something and repeat one key word 7-8 times in one post.
Now, why have you only slept 12 hours in 3 days? My gosh ... I'd be flat on my face on the floor if I took one sip of beer with such little sleep.
Great analogy & makes perfect sense. great advice. BTW, I've never heard the song. I'll try to follow up w/ you next week re: rich pins. - Debbie
Haven't heard this song for a number of years. It went very well with the excellent lesson on SEO success. Thank you! I will remember.
Michael...Great song and a fun read!! I am curious though...and perhaps there is a great reason...but why is it so hard to find your name on your blog page?
Michael you always make me smile with your stuff & stories - and just plain darn good sense!
Michael the real question after reading - Does this make sense? It did to me over beer last night. While I was thinkin' about mama. And trains. And gettin' drunk.. is does it still make sense to you today. JK - you make it sound easy.
Now if I can only increase my real estae SEO results by drinking and thinking about mama, trains, my truck, my dog,....
As always Michael, you have such a way with words! Now I need to write that perfect song, I mean blog post to tie in all my content and put it on the front page of my website!!
That is such a great post! You deserved the Feature! He was a great SEO of his song.
What a name of a post~ could not miss it.
Great story. Thanks for sharing, Michael.
You make a great point! -- One I will refer to often. Also country music is one of my secret loves, thanks for the song.
Conversing search over Guinness with guest while westerm hangs over my Arizona alehouse. ![]()
What can I say Michael you just have an inciteful way to seeing things that is right in front of most of us and we side step! Onward with SEO tools... how was the beer?
I remember the joke Alan! That is an old one.
Jason Crouch- right? That's what I thought when I heard the song last night. I think I've listened to it five times today.
Kathleen- I really am lacking on sleep right now. I am missing one of my tiny group of employees, and I can't sleep just thinking about it. Like you, I am a worrier. We both need to stop that!
Debbie-- you ain't never heard that song? Huh?
Mike McCann-- I think it's because of some changes in AR. I haven't logged in for a little while and everything looks different. I'll try to remedy that.
Bob Stewart-- I think that's the best compliment I've ever gotten. Especially coming from you sir. Thank you.
Susie- also a great compliment! Thank you!
Inna- that was the point, right? I figured, with a title like that, people would want to read it. People love dirt! I wonder how many people thought, "Oh my gosh! His mom was in prison!"
Ok... you hooked me with that intriguing title! Nice post... and a whole lotta country hell being raised over SEO... way to go Andrew ;-) A well-deserved feature Michael.
A good example of less is more. Thanks for a well written and informative post.
I've always thought David Allen Coe a genius. And Steve Goodman too. But after reading your post, I know now that I was still cutting them both short ...
Gene
I think I need to reread this early in the morning when I can absorb it better. I get the jist.
I'll have to learn more about these two for sure. :)
Love and light,
Laura
And all this time I thought Johnny Cash wrote the best country western songs :)
It is a great post, and you did an excellent job describing what we ought to do. It has stickiness, which makes it excellent to remember.
Prop me up by the jukebox when I die and remember I like my woman a little on the trashy side. Country music is real, humorous, raw.
It does make sense to me in some way. Still I like the song and Andrew's response.
Thank you, great explanation!
I will be thinking about this silly song while writing my blogs in the future.
What a cool analogy to SEO and to having a great SEO front page that ties to back pages.
This is a very clever blog. I love David Allen Coe and that song and the way you tied it into a blog was brilliant.
Great headline - had to click to see where you were going! Thanks for a memorable lesson.
I can see where this makes a lot of sense. A very good analogy and reminder.
Outstanding post! Being from the south, I am a little partial to country music, and David Allen Coe, but I never put him together with SEO. You're totally correct. Very original content on your part also.
This is a fantastic post! I really enjoyed the analogy between the song and SEO. Brilliantly done!
Thanks Michael, now I can't get THAT song out of my head! Great post and great comparison/tie-in to SEO!
Cheers!
We play that song when we perform and it's a crowd pleaser! But Andrew's observation was BRILLIANT! Good for you for giving him the credit for the idea but kudos to you for laying it all out!
Great blog! I call it the USA Today of blogging. Use as few words as possible to convey the best content. Your title is an eye opener!
Absolutely brilliant - going to have that song humming in my head today while I give this more thought. :)
Crazy! Just scrolling through the blog roll, this caught my eye. But now reading, and rereading, it's like a light bulb went off. Very interesting post! Thank you
Michael,
Great ideas and methods for composing structure in our blogging efforts!
Been listening to David Allan Coe for years. Never thought he was a SEO expert. Have enjoyed this song many times. Guess I will look at it in a new light.
That was one catchy title for sure and that was followed is something to think about! Thanks!
I have heard this song many times and never thought about it that way, but it does make sense. Especially to those that are self proclaimed haters of country music. Thank you for sharing!
The title definitely pulls in the readers and that can also be an often overlooked tip for bloggers. It's not just about keywords, but it has to intrigue the reader as well.
Love this post. Well done in pulling this all together and making it an extremely good post on best SEO practices.
Also impressed that you drink Guiness. A man after my own heart. :)
I like the song, the SEO and what you have shared with us, AZ or elsewhere.
Great post. My husband (not a realtor) came across it because I had ActiveRain open on the computer. He loves David Allen Coe and asked what the heck "SEO" meant. I explained it to him, and I also learned something here. I like the idea of writing 1 good post instead of 10 ho-hum ones.
Great pulling all this together into a post about SEO...very creative. Thanks for sharing!
Great SEO advice from a different but very understandable viewpoint. Thanks
It really hit the high points for an SEO. A lot of western songs can be sad and sometimes negative but they do depict real life.
Very creative way to segue into SEO, which is a topic that we realtors need to focus on as an online marketing tool for generating more business.
You sir, have written a great blog post! I am impressed at how you were able to tie the "Perfect Country Song" into an article about SEO on a real estate blog!
Very cool analogy. Enjoyed reading the post. Both creative and accurate, I'd say.
Our home pages should be a sum of everything related to what we do. And when they want to read more about something, they click on through. It's true, good advice!
Thank you for all of the lovely comments folks. I do appreciate it. I've been a little under the weather this weekend, so I was pretty amazed to see so many comments come Monday morning.
Thank you to Kathleen Daniels for suggesting my post and thanks to ActiveRain for featuring it!
Michael, Just wanted to let you know that I featured your post in My favorites for last week. Here is the link:
While I find your post very informative for the SEO piece on a side note I would also likely be drunk if I was picking my mom up from prison lol
Peace
I really like that song:-)
So you suggest writing a comprehensive neighborhood/community page and linking to other sites that are relveant to that community/neighborhood?
Should we link out? Or link with-in to interior pages for relevant neighborhood/community content?
Great Title and Grab the Audience: Good explanation of SEO and how to use it.
Hopefully you were kidding about this kid never hearing this song before...
Great analogy, and you made an excellent point at the same time. The only things David Allen might have added to the song to make it complete was Heart Break and Cheating.
Now there's a post that caught my attention! I had to read it just to see how it would tie into real estate. Great job! Andrew had a great idea and you made it better by sharing it on a blog. (I love that song, by the way!)
I like your take on to get SEO explained. It makes a lot of sense at least to me. Tahnks for the great share.
@David, he does mention heartbreak in the first lines of the song: It was all I could do to keep from cryin', Sometimes it seemed so useless to remain. And he does ask his girl why she never calls him by his name, so... ;-)
Just listening to that song makes me want to drink and I don't drink! LOL! Great analogy and great example of hitting the mark. Thanks for sharing!
I once put all of David Allen Coe's songs on my play list. I deleted the majority because they were too filthy and racist for my taste in music, BUT there are still some good ones like the one you referenced above. I also like, Mona Lisa Lost Her Smile and You Don't Even Call Me By My Name.
Great Analogy! Joy
Not only do I love this song but what a great post. You hit the nail on the head! That's one of the best explanations of SEO that I've ever read. You made it simple and concise, just like David Allen Coe (who, I absolutely adore, by the way.)
Finally a blog about SEO even I can relate to. I'd grab a beer with you any time...and we'll catch the midnight train to nowhere.
Perfect example of an SEO song and by using the words in your post you just got Google juice!
I really wish I lived closer to the two of you! You're the perfect conversation additive.
Great post, and that song brings back memories. I grew up on country music, and I remember singing that one at the top of my lungs in the back of a Datsun B-210 Hatchback, you know, back in the days before mandatory seat belts!
I'm not a country-western fan, but I really enjoyed the way the lyrics changed up from something I couldn't relate to at all to a parody of country-western lyrics. The first half of the song was blah and the second half, even though I knew the songwriter was throwing every country-western cliche in the world into the song was great! I was an eyeopener. You should sponsor a contest to see who can put the most SEO words for real estate into an AR blog post and let Google choose the winner.
Very interesting analogy for country music. A Wishing you continued success.
I love your line about content, "Don't say in 10 articles, what you can say in one." I guess we could term that bloated content:-)
stunningly clear picture...thanks for sharing the wisdom...I resist blogging and such, opened my eyes wide!
Your title caught my eye and brought back memories of high school in the late seventies. I enjoyed listening to the song, so thank you. I am still learning about SEO so I appreciate your explanation, too.
At first I thought this post had to do with the contest about picking a song that described your business in 2013!
Ed#91, musician here as well (ok, really a drummer, but I do hang around with musicians....
), and have played that song quite a few times myself!
Post Author (couldn't find your name) - good way top illustrate SEO - THANKS!
Well, your title got me. I had to see what you were talking about! Never underestimate a title to get a click on your post!
Great analogy for the blueprint for writing posts with SEO in mind. Title really grabbed me!
Like so many, the title pulled me in.
Gonna have to find that song and give it a listen - don't think I have heard it before.
Great title and fun analogy - congrats on the feature! By the way - what are "white hat" SEO services?
The Blog title reminded me of something -- - reminded me of high School. and Yes the content really did.
When I read your title the song started playing in my head - it's one of my favorites.
Love it! I love this song and you much such a great point. So much good stuff all in one place. Thanks for sharing a humorous and useful post!
Great SEO advice. The strategy you share seems like it would be as warty as it is simple.
Well, your argument makes perfect sense to me, Michael... but then I've just had a nice big glass of wine ;-)
HI Michael, I am not quite sure how i will use this information but I am going to try! If Sally says a glass of wine helps, all the better!
Great point, great song, and which pub in Phoenix? I might have to go there for inspiration!
Great points about saying it all in one post rather than 10. But I am afraid that if we all did this there would be very few high point count AR bloggers.
AR points come with volume, not value, so we get firehose streams of Pablum (does that show my age, or what?) in this and other sites.
BTW: you write very well, but I am not too fond of Guiness. I prefer Dortmunder Gold (Great Lakes Brewery, Cleveland, OH). ![]()
Oh Yes, that is so southern country music. Love how you tied it together with SEO - i sure got it. Excellent post and thank you!
This is soo exciting - someone else listens to and gets David!!! I need one more beer before I go get momma from the train after she gets out of prison. Hope my dog don't get hisself runned over!
Grew up on country music. Not familiar with that particular song but I am now! Great post!
Now this is a great idea, loud and clear. I have never heard of David Allen Coe but when Mick Jagger sings about Satisfaction, I could definitely relate and relate that to satisfaction when hiring an interior designer!
Super cool. This is the most entertaining post I've ever read about SEO - and the message is clear, despite the beer and sleep deprivation. :) Damn country songs, I'm thinking this might be a "Bloody Mary Morning." Although, my baby hasn't left me, so not sure what excuse I can conjure up...
Excellent post! What a great way to explain how SEO works- very entertaining and educational read... thanks!
Guess I'll have to find my key words for SEO, although the train thing does appeal to me!
Put a big smile on my face on this cold snowy Tuesday in PA! Great post and reminder that more is not always more. Thanks for linking the song. Hadn't heard it in ages! Smiling wide.
Excellent post, I love the song but he forgot to mention the faithful dog! That would make it the most perfect country song.
Say what I think I will just head to the bar, maybe it takes a drink or two to figure this out
I like country and western music, and I do rememberr that song. The title brought me to the post :)
I never heard the song but the title of your post sure got my attention. LOL
You win again, Michael! Great title backed up by an equally impactful article.
Very inspiring!
Happy New Year to all my friends on Active Rain & please keep warm & dry...
... and if you play a country song backward, you get your girl back, you get your truck back, you get your dog back...
(sorry... old guy, old joke)
