Fuel for the coming winter storm

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Sharon Lee's Virtual Assistance

Good afternoon everyone. The weather has been so beautiful the last two days. Yesterday being a high of 71 in the afternoon so I have been finishing up getting things planted in my garden. Today has been significantly cooler at high of 45*.

Since I did something to my shoulder and it is hurting quite a bit I thought it was wiser not to be doing anymore digging for a while. Since tomorrow is going to be only high of 32 all day and freezing rain all day I decided to tidy up the yard, empty the rainbarrels and cover them so the rain can't fill them up again and fill all the feeders so the birds will have plenty of food for the inclement weather and I don't have to chance falling on the ice.

I made some treats for the birds as well as their regular food. So it is fun to watch all the activity and they may be out in it tomorrow as well because back in NY when it snowed like crazy the birds would be out in full force.

Here are pics I took a short while ago of all the feeders plus their treats. I even have a tree with popcorn on it for them and other treats underneath. They will be satisfied with all their winter fuel.  For the treats I mixed corn muffins, seeds and melted peanut butter.

Whole line of feeders

Popcorn in the tree

Treat under the tree branches

Hi Sharon, You have a great thing going there for your local birds.  I bet they just love to come to your yard!  Great idea about putting popcorn out and about also!

Are you getting a lot of snow today?  Either way take care.

I love the photos and your efforts in feeding our feathered friends.  Have fun watching them - and hope the freezing rain doesn't last long. It's the absolute worst. Take care Sharon.

Oh, and the title made me think you were chopping wood for the fireplace or wood stove. :)

Thank you Debb-I don't think chopping wood would be good for this shoulder. We are just back to rain tomorrow with temps warmer so the ice should melt by late morning or early afternoon. I have been inside all day other than to get the paper early this morning before the steps got icy.  There has been some activity but mostly they have taken cover. Maybe in the pine tree I have for them for the winter.

Sharon, a virtual smorgasbord...! I got creative with my ingredients for my bird cupcakes...had no cornmeal, so I crushed stale crackers and also added a corn based dry cereal. I also used the food processor to make some of the nuts smaller...made some of it last nite.

It's a balmy 32 degrees and I see sun! Now, if it can just hang on so that tomorrow morning, I can get out and get Kasa to the doc's (two hours away) for her staples to be taken out and talk about next steps.

Keep smiling!

Gayle-I know they will love it.  My birdies have eaten most of it already and I have had to replenish the feeders as well. Keep me posted on your baby.

There should be some very happy birds and other wild creatures in your yard, it is so good that you are watching out for them and providing meals before the storms of winter arrive.
