A REALLY BIG DEAL - AN ACTIVE RAIN CHALLENGE
In my first few years of real estate it seemed that Christmas week was always crazy busy with showings. One year I was out with a client Christmas Eve in a snowstorm. As we were viewing our 2nd house which was up on a hill; when we came out there was a couple standing outside. He asked if I could show them the same house I just came out of because his Realtor had not shown up, they had been waiting for over 45 minutes. I apologized, said I couldn't because I was with someone and we were on a schedule but would gladly do it if they wanted to call me. I gave them my card, wished them a safe ride home and was off to the next house with my client. I was unable to write their number down because my two pens had stopped working in the cold and no one else had a pen.
My client unfortunately did not like any of the houses we saw that day. However, the day after Christmas my phone rang and it was the couple who was standing in the snowstorm when I came out of that house.
Because I took the time to talk to them for those few moments and was willing to work with them at their convenience (they said) they wanted me to show them that same house and possibly one other. We went to see it, and they also did not like it. When we went to the 2nd home they loved it - we wrote a purchase offer and it was accepted!
This was probably one of the quickest house hunts I have ever had and all because I was out on a snowy Christmas Eve. I now carry at least 10 pens with me at all times and plenty of paper!
