So, Craigslist kills HTML to stem abuse? Time for the beloved QR Code!

Yep.  If Craigslist will not allow links, it is QR Code time.

Here's my CL ad for a sweet little rancher in Northclift, 5807 Windham Drive, Raleigh NC 27609

The QR Code takes you to my photo tour and other details.

It is unfortunate that there has been so much abuse of the Craigslist TOS by the ethical and self-regulated Real Estate community, abuse which helped motivate Craigslist to rein in HTML useage.  But, that is where we find ourselves.
I don't think for a moment that consumers will copy and paste links nearly as often as they will click on them.  But, for many, the QR Code is still something new and shiny.

We'll see how that works out.

A great post Mike, and a big suggest from me (can you please make the link open in a new window?)  There is always a way to get around something, and this is a brilliant idea and I'm so glad you are still a fan of the QR codes are have found a solution . . . making them work!

This is absolutely brilliant, Mike. However did you think of this? I can't believe that Market Leader and IMSD haven't suggested this as yet in all their webinars.

House. Home. Today.

I started on the QR code bandwagon when I first started in real estate.  I ditched it when I realized I had no desire to scan them myself.  I'd be interested to see others results with using them?  I'm personally ok with the ugly, basic Craigslist posts: copy and paste this link to see these houses.  I find them easier to create.  How many leads will I get...? We'll see.  Best of luck with the QR codes!

Mitch,

And sometimes we just have to open a door ourselves?

Mark,

I don't expect to rock the world, but there is $0.00 invested.  So we'll give it a go.

Sharon,

"No Hassle" is my modus operandi!

Helen,

Thanks for the props!

Nina,

"Think?"  I believe I was struck by lightning....  :D

Sarah,

I wonder too if it is worth it, but the downside is non-existent.

Wayne,

Yep.

Rich,

I just nailed a laminated QR Code to a gatepost on a private road to 10 acres I have listed.

Wondering..........

Apple Valley Lake,

I don't post QR Codes on Craigslist real estate ads any more.

Since I posted this, the new Craigslist agreement prohibits agents from using links like this in ads.

There are plenty of unethical agents out there who are promising to abide by the rules when posting to Craigslist, and then immediately breaking their word.
I won't be one of them in the race to the bottom of boorish behavior....
