Three Little Birds by Bob Marley certainly sums up my business for 2013! It is a song of hope, and we certainly needed that this year with all the ups and downs.
My hope is that my pick for a musical theme for my business this year continues to grow.
I have had much success in making and selling birdhouses, especially here on Active Rain. But, now that I have expanded into tables, potting benches, end tables and coffee tables, my business is really taking off.
And, while I find making the birdhouses is a great creative outlet, the furniture end of the business is making more money, especially since so many people want it delivered! The delivery fee is not making me any money either because usually Chief Cook and I will check out restaurants near where we are delivering and perhaps have a sandwich and a libation of the adult variety. Never overdo…make note that one libation is sufficient to make it merry without making it hairy.
I have been so blessed with my many friends here in the Rain, and, now in the Twin Cities area, that I have, in addition to building birdhouses, lawn care, trashouts, and antiques, quite a tidy bit of income. I won’t be rich in money anytime soon, but I can count friends, acquaintances, experiences and new projects as my “income”, too.
With all that has come this year, both good and bad, I know that we are truly blessed this year and with that, I offer this as my pick for my theme for the year.
