Well, it’s that time of year again, and it is inevitable that the topic of religion will come up in the conversation.
Recognition of the observance of Christmas is a complicated dilemma for many in a business that respects the beliefs of all of it customers and clients.
Christmas is BOTH a religious and a secular holiday. You can have one without the other, and everyone is free to ignore it altogether.
But in fact, it IS a designated national holiday. The mail does not run. Federal offices are closed. It is a real day with a real name that cannot be removed from the lexicon without generating a good deal of confusion.
I don’t celebrate Columbus Day. That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist. I am also not offended if anyone else chooses to participate in Columbus Day celebrations in any way that they see fit.
My religious beliefs are personal. I will keep them to myself.
But the twenty-fifth day of December is Christmas.
It says so on the Calendar.
