The Olympia area has been unseasonably cold the last several days, with overnight lows in the teens, and daytime highs only upper 20's to low 30's. I know right now some of you are saying something like "Does she seriously think that even COUNTS as being cold!" Right?
And having grown up in northern Illinois, I do realize many parts of the country get colder - much colder in the winter. But we are so accustomed to our more moderate temperature range, that a sustained bout of temperatures this cold is really noticeable.
So I have been bundling up in multiple layers of sweaters, and wondering why my coat really isn't all that warm....And where in the world could my gloves be hiding? And laughing as the dog paws at her outdoor water dish with the most puzzled look on her face (yes, I did go get her some fresh water to drink). And experimenting with which sink faucet we can leave dripping a trickle of water at night (in hopes we won't have the fun of frozen pipes) and still be able to sleep. The sound of dripping water is totally hard to ignore when you are trying to fall asleep....
I know the forecast is that we will be gradually warming up the rest of this week, and transitioning back to our more "normal" rainy December weather. Now we will see if that transition includes some snow before it gets up to rain temperatures??
Just in case, I think I will hunt a little more for my gloves tonight. And my snow boots too. Just in case!
