New Google Maps Technology that can help Realtors

Real Estate Agent with Galt Ocean Realty Ft. Lauderdale 3217129

Each morning I take 30-45 minutes to peruse what is happening in our world. I enjoy reading the BBC Online regarding all topics, but today there was news that could become especially pertinent for Realtors.

The innovative people at Google have come out with a new Google Maps technology that will allow users to create a unique Street View -- including a 360-degree virtual tour -- of any location. It will also give people the benefit of sharing these views using Google Maps.

Google Maps Street View

This technology could come in handy for people in many different industries, but as I'm a Realtor in South Florida, the first thing I thought of was International and out-of-town clients.

Agents could drive to specific properties and essentially create their own virtual tours of the homes and surrounding neighborhoods in an effort to "show" property to clients who cannot physically venture to the location themselves.

This tool was not created for the specific use of real estate agents, but it certainly can be utilized by the savvy agent as a way to reach out to clients all over the world. Considering almost 50% of the sales in South Florida recently have come from International buyers, it becomes a very helpful tool.

Thanks for sharing Jeff. I will immediately share this tool with our web design team as they build websites for Southwest Florida businesses, including real estate professionals or enhance existing sites with social media integration, blogging, email marketing, etc.

I do notice that Google maps has saved my skin quite a lot. And also on another note, this post is making me want to listen to BBC right now, so thanks for that. Love and light, Laura

I'm interested in learning more, especially if it's relatively easy to use/implement. Not sure I find Google maps so easy to work with these days but perhaps that's just a learning curve for me

Thanks for the tip.  I've been using google maps for the last few years to help show the area we cover.  I will look to see if I can leverage this new aspect.

Definitely a huge plus for out-of-town buyers who aren't familiar with an area. It's amazing how quickly things change. Just years ago we didn't even have satellite imagery.

I've had clients tell me they've taken a "walk" in the neighborhood where I was going to show them homes before they even reached Florida. Confused, I questioned what they meant and they told me they went on Google Streetview and basically just scrolled up and down the streets to get a feel of where they'd be living.

You are welcome Michael. Technology changes every day and the real estate industry, especially in South Florida, needs to keep up. We're still using locker-style lockboxes and SUPRAs!

Jeff - technology really changes the way people live. Being able to "walk" the neighborhood is a terific tool for out-of-town buyers, no questions.

Thank you

Just had an Australian buyer zero in on a property that has our standard full motion video tour with natural sound and he is buying based on just the video. The Google maps are good additions to the marketing but in our area bing map fly overs are clearer, more recent, sweet and clean. Everything agent should have the neighborhood, community video playlist in their youtube channel as one powerful weapon to unleash.
