what's HAPPENING in sun valley?
In my last Blog post I stated that the November 2013 issue of Powder magazine named Sun Valley the 16th BEST SKI TOWN in the Rocky Mountain West.
Here's what else Powder magazine had to say about Sun Valley in an article entitled Changing of the Guard: How Sun Valley reinvented itself into a park skiing paradise by Will Edinton and John Clary Davies. "Suddenly, Sun Valley has evolved into a burgeoning freestyle scene. The wide-open groomers, endless zipper lines, and sunny skies lent themselves to the glory days of freestyle, ballet, and mogul skiing. But it took some time before it would usher in the latest chapter of freestyle skiing............The rapid transformation quickly grabbed the attention of ski film companies. The nature of Sun Valley made it a perfect locale for late-season park shots: long, sunny spring days, a welcoming town that knows how to party, and one of the best park-building crews in the nation."
At Dollar Mountain watch for Wing Tai Barrymore, a Sun Valley native and member of the U.S. Half-pipe team. With any luck you might see Tai and his teammates at Dollar as they train between the Olympic qualfiers. Now, let it snow!
