Yesterday afternoon my friend and I braved steady, pouring rain to walk three blocks away from Tarrant's Cafe (where we had just eaten a delicious lunch) over to 1708 Gallery at 319 W. Broad Street in Richmond Virginia. Today has been very sunny. However, yesterday was much a different story!
Above is photo of outside window looking in at the Monster Drawing Rally fundraiser.
Huge crowds were present at yesterday's Monster Drawing Rally, and it was practically standing room only! As we walked inside, children were drawing art with colored chalk on a large blackboard positioned on the wall near the floor. Walking further through a maze of people, we saw two lines of tables with adult artists focused on making their own unique art pieces. Spectators stood back against the walls to admire the artists working, and others would walk by to get a closer look at what each artist was creating.
If you're looking for something different, definitely explore 1708 Gallery while visiting downtown Richmond. Also, during the first Friday of every month, there's something known as First Fridays Art Walk. There definitely is a popular art scene in that area!
With all the rain yesterday, it was a little challenging for me to get a photo of this sign.
