Automated Listings Sent By E-Mail From Our MLS Have Been Blocked by Yahoo

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Stars Realty

Recently I had a couple of clients tell me that they were no longer getting the e-mails I have been sending from our only MLS system.  This came as a shock to me because I set myself up as a cc for all my clients and I have been getting them without a hitch.  The issue seems to be that Yahoo has black listed our MLS vendor the e-mails aren't making it to our clients with Yahoo e-mail addresses.  This is a challenge that can be overcome with some creative thinking.

When you have clients set up on MLS automated listing searches you can cc yourself so that you get the same message that is being sent to your client.  Once the message gets to you it is easy to forward the cc e-mail copy to the clients that have Yahoo address.  Another tip is to change the subject line because in many cases when an automated e-mail is black listed they block repetitive subject lines so give this a try.  It worked for us and maybe it can work for you also.

Happy Selling

That is a shame.  I wonder if yahoo is seding them to the spam folder by mistake.

I've had to do that quite a bit with Yahoo as well as some other e-mail users.  It seems to go in Cycles. Sometimes they go through fine and sometimes they "bounce".  Very frustrating.

John - They are not making it into the clients spam folder at all.  They are bouncing back to the MLS vendor server.

Brian - You are right it is very frustrating.  The good news is that I am aware of it and I am guessing many others are having the same problem but they may not be aware of it.

Sam,

I am having the same thing with Marketlinx.

Seems that enough people have declared IDX emails "spam," that Yahoo has blocked them.

It is a nuisance, indeed.

Sam,

I use Yahoo, and have not had the same problem.  I wonder if it's the computer spam settings, and not Yahoo.

Sam,

I've had this same situation, but I had no idea why prospects were not getting the emails from MLS.  Maybe I should ask if they use Yahoo.  Thanks for the tip.

Sam - Another solution may be to have the recipient add the "sender" e-mail address to their contact list.

Thanks for the much needed explanation. Technology speeds ahead as a whole, so much faster than the sychonization of all the parts.
