Dreaming of a White Christmas - What are the odds in Clark County, WA?
According to the weather folks, the definition of a White Christmas means an accumulation of a least an inch of snowfall. That doesn’t seem like much does it? Come on, just an inch, that sounds pretty easy.
However in Clark County, ocean winds bring us for the most part, a temperate weather climate. In short, that means we have warm, dry summers and mild, damp winters. Snowfall is variable, and is rather uncommon.
Chance of snow on Christmas in Clark County, WA
State forecasters are calling this a La Nada year. In other words, it’s not an El Nino, warmer than usual, or a La Nina, cooler than average weather pattern. La Nada ushers in a little bit of everything - and snow is a possibility.
Once again, there needs to be at least an inch of snow accumulation for a White Christmas. The odds of that happening on Christmas Day are pretty slim. Unfortunately, for those of us who love snow, it’s less than 1%.
There’s a small chance of a White Christmas in Clark County.
The 10 day forecast for our area calls for a 40% chance of rain and snow showers on December 25th, 2013. The predicted low is for 33 degrees, with a high of 45 degrees. It’s not likely to stick, but hey, I’ll settle for a few flakes of snow.
In case we don’t get that White Christmas you’re dreaming of...keep in mind.

You won’t have to watch non-stop TV reports of the big event.
You won’t have to try to construct a make-shift sled for the kids (okay, you).
You won’t have to worry about Uncle Joe slipping on the sidewalk (after an eggnog or two)
