Unfortunately, I've met many more bad agents than good agents. When I do have an opportunity to work with an outstanding agent (or mortgage company), I always write a positive review for them and tell them how great they are. Wish I had opportunities to do more of that.
My wild guess is that, among consumers, 80% will accept perceived lower price or "real nice" over quality and experience.
You can try to educate and make a mediocre agent better, unfortunately most of them think they already know everything
Thank you Todd. Right back at ya.
Thanks for all the comments today. Made my morning.

Great idea Pete. I'm not sure if a hug will make agents more or less likely to recommend me. I will give it a shot
Juan,
Juan,
A hug is a gamble. The hug part of the post came from a past experience in a previous job. I was really stressed about an event that was underway and going just ok. The manager of the location knew me well. I am not actually a hugger. I clearly looked stressed. He cornered me hugged me and picked me up in the hug until I started laughing. It was one of the funniest moments of my life. You should have seen the rest of the employees and customers laughing. I'll never forget it or its real and comedic value.
Jason,
I am sure that will work. Too funny. Incredible movie. Thanks for the laugh.

Perhaps we can talk to Hallmark about creating a Realtor appreciation day when our clients are supposed to call us, send us a card or flowers.
Love the article and your sense of humour. It's interesting to hear that people are more likely to report bad service than good although I suppose one could probably come to that conclusion if they stopped to think about it. Why do we love to complain so much?
Aaron. Yes. A hallmark holiday would be hilarious.
Andrew. I think people on average have a hard time moving from their problems.. As a result, that is more often the subject in conversation.

Hi, Pete I included this post in today's Last Week's Favorites. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and stay warm!
Oh Pete, what an awesome post! I am going to look up all the agents I had a transaction with in 2013 and do just that! Thanks!
Pete, great advice. In fact, building relations with other agents help our business in any market.
Hi Pete, this is a great post and ove the message and couldn't agree more. Hug your agent and tell them you appreciate their efforts not even seen.
Give credit when it is due. You're absolutely right that there aren't that many good agents to work with anymore.
I believe it's human nature, probably from our survival instincts, to notice things that are wrong, or simply even just 'out-of-place'. My goal has always been to strive for no negative feedback in every thing I've done. Certainly doesn't mean that that is practically attainable, but when everything is finished and in its place and appears to have run (ran?) smoothly people rarely make any comments. It's the mistakes that stick out and get the hair up on the back of your neck.
