We started building our house in Frisco in 2001. Back then it was a much different city. We had less than 35,000 people and barely a starbucks. Fast forward to today and our population is more than 139,000 people with multiple Starbucks (after all isn't that one of the crucial landmarks) and an unbelievable commerical base that helps
maintain our very reasonable taxes especially when you consider our exemplary school district.
However, another aspect that is quickly setting us apart from other cities is our sports. It is hard to imagine that this sleepy little town is now hosting some of the best in both proffessional and amasteur sports in the nation. Many people might have heard about the recent decision for the Dallas Cowboys to move their entire practice facility to a new home in Frisco. Jerry Jones does have some roots here in Frisco.
Back in the April 2011 edition ofthe Men's Journal magazine, Frisco was named "Best Place to Raise anAthlete", but it does not stop there. Here is a small list of some of the amazing sports you can find here in Frisco:
Frisco RoughRiders - this is the Class AA ball club associates with the Texas Rangers
Toyota Stadium - this is where the profssional soccer team, FC Dallas, plays as well as having a soccer center that hosts 17 regulation sized soccer fields. On Saturdays and Sundays there are any number of soccer leagues and tournaments being played. The stadium also hosts major entertainment events.
Division I Football - back in 2012 Frisco was awarded a three year extension to host the Division I Football Championship Title game.
Division II Basketball - Frisco was just awarded the 2016 Division II Men's Basketball Elite Eight to be hosted by ther Lone Star Conference and the Frisco Convention and Visitors Bureau March 23-26 2016.
Texas Legends - part of the NBA development league that share Dr pepper Arena with the Dallas Stars Hockey as this is their practice facility.
DFW Gun Range and Training Center - the largest in the North Texas Region with over 27,000 square feet in its first phase growing to 36,000 square feet in phase II.
iFLY indoor skydiving is alive and well in Frisco TX.
The list continues with Fieldhouse USA, the Frisco Superdrome for cyclists, Warren Sports Complex, Shawnee Trail Sports complex, Memorial Stadium, Frisco ISD Natatorium, and of course 4 major gofl courses (award winning Tom Fazio Championship Course), tennis and bowling.
All of this and much more. With the cost of taking a family out to a professional major league event such as the Stars, Rangers, Cowboys or Mavericks, these smaller venues allow families to enjoy spectadular sports at reasonalbe prices.
