About a year ago I posted a blog titled Making the Business Flow. It was pretty well received and quite true (in my humble opinion). Today Id like to add to that a little (you can click on the link above for my original post)
The last few years were tough on all of us. I am firmly convinced that the RELATIONSHIPS I found and nurtured are a main reason I came through the slow times comparatively ok. But like everyone from time to time, for some reason, I drop a client off my radar...usually by accident but who knows how or why. Yesterday I was called to do a listing appointment. The caller was in a panic, needed to sell and was told by one of my old clients that I was the go to guy for him. Then when we talk I find both his CPA and Attorney had also mentioned me.
Two points here. The client that made the original recommendation was one I had somehow lost track of but he had not forgotten...so I have to mend that bridge. The second is, in my original post, I casually mentioned community and that is where the CPA and Attorney fit in... my list of people that form my business community and I go to or refer to all the time because I know their worth and ability and customers often look to us for other professionals. Between maintaining contact (like my client I am dropping a note to today) and working to build a community I fully intend that next year will be better than 2013... and this was one of my best ever.... almost entirely because of relationships developed and nurtured over the years.
