Active rain is cool, now I have an excuse for goofing off, taking pictures and acting like a tourist for an hour or so on a slow day.
This past week my son Nick, who is a Forester for Woodland Management Service, asked me to come along with him while he started a timber marking project in Chippewa County Wisconsin.
Even though I was quite busy in the office, I thought Nick could use some advice and I needed to get out and take some pictures, shoot some video, and get a little exercise.
The snow was a little deeper than I thought it would be so I got more exercise than I thought I would and Nicks 4x4 truck had a little more difficulty than we thought it would too.
Nick already knew the answers to his questions so that part of the day went quickly, more reassurance than education.
We found a cool car to take pictures of and the blog on this has already been written.
We took a few quick videos, one take for each since it was too cold to stand around holding a camera for too long.
Then I left Nick alone to do his work while I went around looking for interesting things to take pictures of…
Standing just across the road from where Nick was marking I found this old farmstead and wrote a blog post about it already and you can find it here.
Right next door I found this cool old windmill, I will post more pics on this along with some thoughts later.
A mile to the north I found these buildings, I will write about them later too.
And next to the buildings were these horses taking a break from work on an Amish farm.
Just south of where nick was working I stopped on this bridge to take a few picks and found the largest flock of turkeys I have ever seen, there must have been at least a hundred of them stretched between the creek, the woods and the cornfield.
As our friend Roy always says "keep your camera handy", you never know how many interesting things you can find to photograph right next to your project.
