The Best Blog Posts Are Easy to Write

writing blog postsI have noticed that when I get an idea and sit down and capture that into a blog post,  it usually flows right out on to the page and those turn out to be my best posts. They are posts that capture the most page views and sometimes the most comments, even thought as we know that does not always follow each other.

But when I was recently asked to do a short guess post on a subject, I had the hardest time writing a post.  The post was just not flowing and I keep correcting the direction the post was going in. I just finished submitting the finished post but don't feel good about it,  even though I worked harder on it than on most of my posts.

Writing is a creative process.

Writing is kind of like letting your inter thoughts out to share with others. When it comes from a base of knowledge, experiences or even feelings then it is true and easy - even a pleasure to write about. I have been following some travel bloggers and those guys seem to make it so easy and fun. Some article writers can write about anything, but I never could do that.

Why is that?

Have you experienced the same thing and why is that? To me it's like sometimes your sub-conscious already has something in mind that pops up in your conscious mind and then pours out. But other times when you need to do a post that you are just not that inspired about, it is difficut and shows.

Robert,  You know what always surpirses me?  It's the blogs that I spend the least amount of time on that always seem to get featured.  I can spend an hour compsoing a blog that I think will get all kinds of comments and perhaps a Gold Star - and alas, it barely gets a click.  But the ones where I sit down and blurt something out quickly seem to get comments galore and an occassional feature.  Mind boggling indeed!

Robert - I have trouble writing blogs sometimes and those are not my best ones.  I guess it all comes down to inspiration.  The excited I am about the topic the better I do.

Belinda exactly! Great minds think alike. Grant I think you are right that being excited about the topic greases the process and your enthusiasm comes out.

Robert, Nice post!  There are times when I have trouble writing blogs, when that happens, I try to find something that I can write a series of blogs about.  The restaurant blogs that I am doing right now is an example.  After the 3rd or 4th blog, the rest have come pretty easy. By doing a series of blogs like this, I find that if forces me to have more discipline and attempt to write every day.

Hey Robert - I love being in blog mode. It helps to clear my mind of clutter and focus my thoughts in general. All the better that we get feedback and encouragement here in the rain.

Tony, yes I remember reading your restaurant review posts and that is a good idea about doing a series of posts on a related subject. Andre it feels good to tune in and be "in the zone" doesn't it.

Jennifer, well it must be a universal truth. So when we get an idea that is ready to come out, we need to blog that post!
