Carlsbad Bids Farewell to Fall and Welcomes Winter
Hard to believe the first day of winter is tomorrow.
In some ways we seem to have already been there, with some particularly chilly weather…for SoCal…in the last few weeks.
We can see snow on the distant mountains, and parts of our county experienced snow at the highest elevations, and with near record cold temperatures in some area.
Certainly other parts of the country have experienced significantly cold weather with storms, heavy snow, and everything you would expect at the height of winter. We can't complain.
I often get asked by people from other parts of the country if we have a change of seasons.
I can say, without question, that we do. Oh, not the significant changes one finds in so many other areas, but changes nonetheless.
It’s time to say farewell to fall in Carlsbad and welcome the winter.
The holidays are here, and activities are heating up for vacationers enjoying time in our more temperate weather away from the snow and cold.
Surfers are wearing wetsuits, many residents now sport long sleeve shirts and light jackets, and the return of the shorts and Uggs boots has occurred.
We've even turned on the ehat, occasionally, and use our fireplaces.
Happy First Day of Winter tomorrow!
