An Old Fence and a December Sunrise in Peyton, Colorado

Have you ever noticed that some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets seem to foretell  a change in weather?

In the Colorado Springs area, we enjoy about 300 days of sunshine per year.  Cloudy days seem to be few and far between.  This means that we do not have a lot of spectacular sunrises and sunsets throughout the year.

As result, we tend to REALLY appreciate the ones that we do have.   Last Wednesday was one of the beautiful sunrise mornings.

These photographs were taken in Peyton, Colorado.  Peyton is located about 45 minutes north east of downtown Colorado Springs.

Peyton is a great area for horse owners that do not want a lot that is heavily wooded with pine trees.

I know Sondra as you go further east of the Front Range that makes up the Colorado Springs and Denver corridor it gets more and more flat and is ideal for horse country. Clouds (when you find them) getting illuminated below like in your exquisite early or at sundown poses give some extraordinary color to the photos with the pinks and orange hues. As always you are paying attention to nature around you and all of us who see your photos are the beneficiaries. The silhouette of the house or barn and the fence definitely caught my eye. Keep up the good work, and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!!

Sondra,

So true, old sailor's adage, "red skies at night, sailor's delight, red skies in the morning, sailor's warning."  Beautiful shots. A

You could paint a picture with that sunset. No two are alike and I never tire of seeing them.

Love the bottom image, opal with fire sky and nippy sun is gone lower half signaling the season. Love your state and have gotten to know C Springs well with son living there through college.
