What Do You Mean, My Home Isn't Ready to Show??

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty

"But I love my home!! When I walk in the door at the end of the day my heart says 'Ahhhh, home!'. So now that I have to sell it, why in the world is my Realtor telling me I need to change things?"

A broken-hearted sellers' cry heard by many a Realtor after the listing has been shown a few times and buyers just can't see themselves living with paisley wallpaper in the bathroom or hunter's orange paint in the family room! So what's a Realtor to do?

Here's a thought! Why not make add this "Staging for Successful Sale" checklist to your listing presentation. Let your sellers know upfront that personal taste and decor is just that... personal and perhaps their "personal" isn't the buyer's "personal". Discussing personal preferences from the beginning, softening the blow by making this standard for all sellers and sandwiching the changes that perhaps need to be made between compliments of the current decor can move the heart of the most rigid seller.

Download and include this checklist in your next listing presentation and see what a difference it can make. Oh and don't forget to "sandwich" it between compliments!
