Livingston High School Graduation RateNew Jersey’s high school graduation rate is already one of the highest in the nation... And it just got better as it edged up a bit for the Class of 2013! Livingston graduates were near the top of the list with 96.04 percent of Livingston High School students graduating last June,2013. Livingston’s graduation rate is well above the state average of 87.5 percent, according to breakdowns released December 4, 2013 by the state Department of Education. 

“We are very proud to see so many Livingston High School students reach the graduation milestone,” said Principal Mark Stern. “This achievement is a testament to the commitment to education of our entire school community, students, parents, and teachers.”

The numbers represent a change in how the state counts and tests graduates. The latest counts follow a cohort of students through high school to measure those who started against those who finished.

In Livingston, 436 students graduated in the Class of 2013. A summary of graduation rates by student subgroups as provided by the state is as follows:

  • 95.28 percent of white students at Livingston High School graduated.
  • 92.31 percent of African-American at Livingston High School students graduated.
  • 90.91 percent of Hispanic students at Livingston High School graduated.
  • 100 percent of Asian students at Livingston High School graduated. 

The Long Highly Rated Livingston Public School District 

For the 1997-98 school year, Livingston High School received the Blue Ribbon Award from the United States Department of Education, the highest honor that an American school can achieve. Livingston High School was the 14th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2006 cover story on the state's Top Public High Schools.

Livingston's schools participate in many county, interschool, state, and national competitions. Some of these include the popular "Cognetics" program, MathCounts, various national, state, and county math contests, debate contests, Academically Speaking (a county competition to test broad knowledge), Knowledge Master Open (KMO, a national computer-based contest to test broad knowledge), and many more.

There are six elementary schools in Livingston - Burnet Hill,CollinsHarrisonHillsideMt. Pleasant ElementaryRiker Hill – two middle schools – Mount Pleasant, and Heritage – and a high school, Livingston High School.
