Holiday Greetings from Florida
Although my home base is Brentwood, TN, with several family members living in Florida, I get down there several times a year. This year I’ll be spending Christmas and New Year's in The Sunshine State.
Christmas was spent in Cape Coral and Sanibel Island. Cape Coral is a peninsula on the Gulf Coast and is just north of Ft Myers. It is a relatively young city as it was just incorporated in 1970. Hundreds of miles of canals were dug throughout the city so that almost all the homes could be on the water. The city has more canals than Venice, Italy. Most of the condos and homes built along the canals have docks which allow for easy access to the gulf. Many are priced right for retirees, too. Check out these waterfront homes for sale in Cape Coral under $200,000.
We have been vacationing in Sanibel for over 30 years. We love the quiet, easy-going atmosphere of this beautiful island. There are miles of biking trails and many waterways for boating and fishing. And of course, Sanibel is known for its shelling. More than half of the island is made up of wildlife refuges, with J.N. ‘Ding’ Darling National Wildlife Refuge being the largest. Although there are many full-time residents, most people travel there just for a vacation. Properties are priced somewhat higher here. Check out these waterfront homes for sale in Sanibel Island for under $400,000.
We took a drive to Ft Meyers Beach the day after Christmas. The northern end is quite busy with people and cars but if you drive a little ways south you’ll find a nice wide beach with super- soft, white sand. You might even spot a dolphin swimming through the calm waters, as we did. There are small numbered parking lots all along Estero Boulevard which give you easy access to the beach. Moderately priced homes can be found here. Check out these waterfront homes for sale in Ft Meyers Beach for under $300,000.
I am spending New Year’s in Port Orange. It is a growing community just south of Daytona Beach. The city includes some of the Halifax River waterways but doesn’t quite go to the beach. With a quick drive over the Dunlawton Avenue Bridge you’ll be on the beach, though. Holiday Greetings from Florida.
For more information on Cape Coral, Sanibel Island, and Ft Meyer’s real estate, you should contact my husband, Ross Winchel, who is licensed in Tennessee and Florida.
I’ll be returning home soon and would be happy to help you if you’re looking for real estate in middle Tennessee.
