Rocky Mountain High -- A Twist for Tourism in Colorado

By

Marajuana

As of January 1st, Colorado will see a different kind of tourism.     Since cannabis (pot) has been legalized in our State, we are seeing many laws being put into place.     As of tomorrow residents will be able to purchase up to one ounce of marijuana.  Going GREEN has taken on a new meaning.

Colorado is known for tourism, but mostly for skiing, our mountains, and of course Denver.    Ready for a tour to the pot industry?    So far two tour companies - Colorado Highlife Tours and Colorado Green Tours are offering tours of growing and distribution of marijuana.    The term "Rocky Mountain High" will take on a new meaning!

If found driving while under the influence, a blood test will be needed, and you can be arrested.

These tour companies offer private tours with sampling and are looking to expand their tours to include "couples getaway" to include cooking classes, growing lessons and private happy hour parties.

With Colorado reaping millions of dollars in tax revenue, we shall see how many other States will jump on the bandwagon.    So far, Colorado and Washington State are the only two blazing the way into uncharted territory.

Will you be changing what you serve at open houses? A little Rocky Mountain High could make the house look a lot better.

Happy New Year!

Joan-I find it interesting, and maybe a bit of a conflict in that years and millions of dollars have be used explaining the negative impact of smoking tobacco products. But now it's OK to promote the smoking of pot.

Wayne, I agree with you, but over the years Pot has been used medicinally for pain.   Was quite surprised when it passed this year.

Roy, not sure if that is a good idea......

I am not a fan of this even though it is my home state as well.

When you look back in time at prohibition I am sure there was a lot of people thinking alcohol was the "devil" but now it has become a core part of society and you cant turn on the tv without seeing a beer or vodka etc commercial.

It will be interesting to see this play out.

Happy New Year

Now that is taking advantage of the current trends. Just think in a few years it will be old hat and nobody will think it is anything special.

Joan- I was with friends that live in Colorado today and we were talking about this new law...  one question I was curious about was if someone is flying from one airport in Colorado to another airport in Colorado- Can they carry it with them?  How would they be able to stop someone from handing it off to someone flying to another state?  I guess these questions will soon be answered as people confront the situations...  This might be a good blog topic for you to write about;)
