We got the demo permit just in time to get this house down in 2013. To build new homes in Westfield NJ, one must get all the utilities disconnected, with letter from the vendors, varmint inspections, asbestos inspections, and then the application is taken to a town meeting. In most cases, the building permit is not considered until the demo permit is obtained, and demolition by year end allows the assessment to be reduced to land only until the new house C of O is issued, so there is a lot at stake. We are grateful to have the house down and excited to see the replacement! 2014 looks to be a hot year for new construction in Westfield!
Here is a fun, 58 second video of the demolition. 529 Benson Pl Demo.
