The 35th Annual Lake Norman New Year's Day Barefoot Skiing Tournament Challenge is tomorrow at the Lake Norman Marina in Sherrills Ford. Watch National Champion Peter Fleck challenge the course record set by Jeff Blair in 2012.
Seven time National Barefoot Skiing Endurance Champion Peter Fleck of Orlando, FL has announced that he will entering the challenge.
He is well known for a long list of barefoot skiing accomplishments, including five time US World Barefoot Ski Team member, as well as the Barefoot Jumping World Record and the winner of the nationally televised X-Games.
The Lake Norman New Year's Day Barefoot Challenge is one of the longest running and unique barefoot water ski tournaments in the world. Competitors in the tournament earn one point for every second that they stay on thier bare feet and also earn points for their starting method and any tricks that are performed. The towboat pulls them in a tight circle pattern increasing the challenge and enabling spectators to keep a close eye on the action.
THE FESTIVITIES KICK OFF AT NOON!
Starting at Noon a Pyramid Ski Show will launch the event by the Carolina Ski Team. The event is held at the Lake Norman Marina in Sherrills Ford, NC at 6965 NC Highway 150 between Mooresville and Denver, NC. Concessions will be available at the site and the Carolina Show Ski Team will be available to answser any questions you may have pertaining to skiing.
