Color: A Powerful Real Estate Marketing Tool

By
Home Stager with Staging Seattle, King & Snohomish Counties

Color makes all the difference when showing a home for sale.  Color can draw a person into a space and create a  warm, welcoming feeling.  The color palate should be consistent throughout the house for good flow.  As professional stagers, it is our goal to keep the focus on the home, not the "stuff" we have brought in to enhance the space.

In this example, warm paint colors highlight the white trim in the dining room and accent the media wall in the family room.  The colors used to stage this home are warm yellow/gold, cream, black, cranberry and sage green.  As you can see, these colors photograph wonderfully and the paint just adds the finishing touch of sophistication often lacking in new construction.

These paint colors were chosen for the builder by Diana Young of SISTERS Interior Redesign.

Thanks, Kathys!  The paint color in the family room is Sherwin Williams Totally Tan, SW 6115.  The color on the bedroom wall and in the dining room is Interactive Cream, SW 6113.  I love the Sherwin Williams fan deck and architectural color box.  It is very user friendly and we have lots of SW stores in our area, so it's readily available.

I'm waiting to hear back from a painter now for my own house.  Similiar color choices for my huge LR/DR combination with one accent wall.  Tired of the builders "champagne" color!

Love the color. I am a huge fan of color.  Did you know that the color beige is hard for the human eye to see. I always tell my clients that if you have an ugly room paint it beige because our eyes have a hard time picking out features of the room when its all cream. It always gets them to be more adventurous with color.:)

Thanks for the comments, everyone!   We often suggest paint colors with a warm undertone because here in the Pacific Northwest, we need all the "sunlight" we can get on gray days (like today!)

Diana -

Thanks for the photos and paint colors. I actually live with these type of colors in my own house and I never seem to get tired of them. I usually try to get clients who are repainting to go towards the warm tones as well. Very uplifting.

Beautiful work as always! I use Interactive Cream alot. And excellent point about using colors that photograph well - very important for stagers to consider in their paint recommendations for a home that will be on the MLS.
