New Technology Trends Expected in 2014 - What Does That Mean for You?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with RealSupport Inc.

In the last decade or so, it seems that technology has truly taken off at a much more rapid pace of evolution than previous years. Between smart phones, tablets, social media, apps and all sorts of other gizmos and gadgets, it can sometimes feel difficult to keep up with the latest trends and advancements! Our Real Estate Virtual Assistant team is very well-versed in all aspects of technology, especially how it relates to marketing and business development for our clients. There will be some exciting new technology to expect in the coming year, and we have the low-down on some of the most notable for real estate agents and brokers:

1. Google Glass will be introduced to the public. You may have heard something about Google Glass over the last year or spotted a celebrity photographed wearing the futuristic eyewear. Available to the public this year, the glasses allow hands-free photography and video recording - As seen through your own eyes. Additionally, Google Glass has smart capabilities, including providing step-by-step directions in front of your face, language translation and answers to specific questions (much like Siri on the iPhone). While it may be a few years from being a common household device, there are many features that make this something the tech-savvy real estate businessperson may want to explore.

2. Smart phones expected to continue immense growth. While this may seem a bit obvious, the rate at which smart phones have taken over the mobile phone market is astonishing. Due to the convenience of having so many devices that were once separate (camera, phone, computer, etc) combined into a single object, one prediction even speculates that over one billion smart phones will be sold worldwide in 2014! By now, nearly every real estate salesperson uses a smart phone or tablet to streamline their on-the-go needs. Our Real Estate Virtual Assistant team has always been a longtime proponent of convenience through technology and "working smarter". Explore the various apps, software and tools offered by your smart phone to ensure that you're getting the most out of your device! Given these statistics, it is also important to ensure that your website is available in a mobile-friendly version as well.

3. 3-D is making a major impact. 3-D environments, given the success of businesses and tools such as Floored and Inside View, are taking the standard virtual tours and photo galleries to a completely new level. Creating a 3-D virtual reality environment for properties that may be on the market allows potential buyers to truly explore them from the comfort of their home. With a real feel for the floorplan, dimensions and room sizes, 3-D is both an excellent new way to market your properties and is also expected to only become increasingly popular in the new year.

As always, our Real Estate Virtual Assistant team is here and ready to answer any questions you may have. Feel free to contact us for samples of ongoing marketing efforts we complete for many clients around the nation or to discuss any special marketing projects for the new year. We look forward to working together and making 2014 an excellent year for all of our clients!

I am not quite grasping the Google Glass concept yet. I usually am an early adapter.
