Do you look out for you Clients I.D. security?

Real Estate Agent with RETIRED 200305001

Do you look out for your clients I. D. security? I use my personal shredder in my office when something doesn't line up in the copier right. It seems like earnest money checks are the biggest culprit. I seem to get them in the copier upside down, backwards, you name it.

So what do you do with the mis feed? I know so many agents that just drop it in the waste can if they are too lazy to put it in the recycle bucket which isn't any better. If your office does not have a shredder, why not? If it does not would $30 for your own be the right thing to do? I think so! Your thoughts?

Hi Rob,

With identify thieft so common we can't help to be more careful.  I actually try to only hold things digitally and turn everything else into the office.  The office supplies a shredder as well.  I'm not sure what the answer is because we are the keepers of information that needs to be kept secure.  Thanks for sharing!

Deborah: I find it interesting how many agents I have talked to, don't care or have never give it a second thought.

Rob, I think a lot of agents are way too casual with their clients' information.  Thanks for the reminder.

Many times I take phone orders and get a CC number, security code, etc. over the phone.  I always shred the paper with all of that information on it.....but not everyone in the store does Rob.  Imagine that getting into the wrong hands.

Rob, You bet I do.  I treat my clients security the same way I do my own. They deserve it.  Shredding takes time but being lazy about security is simply irresponsible.

Hey Rob we have an industrial shredder so none of our clients persoanl info gets nabbed. In addition we use an encrypted drop box (of sorts) for transmitting info even via email.

You can never be too safe these days
