    Speechless Sunday: Recycle Christmas Tree

recycle Christmas Tree

This week it has been the time to recycle your Christmas tree and I happen to get this shot of a couple of guys who found the Home Depot parking lot to recycle their Christmas tree, which will be mulched and is much better than just taking the tree to the city garbage dump.

Robert,

That's good to hear discarded Christmas trees are getting mulched in your area.  Recycling of all sorts helps.  Have a great 2014!

A good way to recycle the Christmas tree.  I will be dropping off tree lights that stop working to Lowes.

Thanks Andrew. Rebecca you are right there is more to recycle than the tree.

Some communities along the coastal regions are using the trees to help fortify sand dunes and protect the coast.

Robert, this is a great idea - recycling/mulching our Christmas trees.. And the one comment on returning old tree lights to Lowe's is also good news. Will check our area.

Robert always a good idea to recycle trees versus throwing in the local dumps.  We use an artificial tree, I sure do miss the smell of the fresh pine!!  Happy New Year!!

Michele, Jane and Joan you have good points. Michele I have heard of putting some tree in a lake or pond will help the fish have a place to live / hide.

This natural method is much preferred to filling up the landfills. We are recycling for the park trails.

Hi Robert - Great photo. Reminds me of the massive fallen tree mulching projects going on in NY counties last year after Hurricane Sandy.

Debbie it is good to see this has become the accepted thing to do. Hi Andre, I am packing for a trip so I will be sure to bring back some photos.

Or better than just laying it out on a random curb like they do here. The ease in providing multiple recycling points (like Home Depot) is key to making sure everyone does it instead of ditching it for someone else to do. These trees will make for some nice mulch, I'm sure.

Paul, being in property management, more than once over the years I have done a move out and spotted a decaying Christmas tree in the backyard of a rental home! At least I think people have quit using as much of the silver ice-cycles that fall off. I didn't see any of that in these Christmas trees in the Home Depot parking lot.
