Milowai Ma'alaea is a 4-story oceanfront condominium project with 43 units located at 50 Hauole Street in Ma'alaea. All units have great ocean views and some with harbor views too. It was built in 1977 and remains a leasehold project with a lease reported to expire in the year 2039.
About half of the units are 1 bedroom/1 bath with 577 sq. ft. of living area. Two bedroom/2 bath units range in size from 765 sq. ft. to 1147 sq. ft. There is also a commercial space on the first floor that was home to the popular Waterfront Restaurant from 1979 until it closed and later reopened at the Ma'alaea Harbor Shops in 2012 (and then closed again in 2013). At the time of this posting, the commercial space was listed for sale.
Milowai construction is concrete; it has a pool and BBQ area and it borders the edge of Ma'alaea Harbor. The underground parking is especially nice as it protects parked vehicles from the hot daily sun which can damage the finish over a long period of time if left exposed. Nearby is the famous Freight Trains surf which draws surfers and an audience the few times a year when it kicks up.
