As calendars are changed for 2014, Christmas presents are tucked away and the last reminisce of wrapping paper is vacuumed up, Christmas trees are starting to slump, losing their green and needles. Instead of sending aged Christmas trees off to a dumpster, there are several places across the state to recycle them.
Please note the Rooney Road drop of site is no longer available for Christmas trees, and fines are issued for items left at the site.
Before taking a tree to a recycling center make sure to remove it from it’s stand and remove all ornaments, tinsel, garland and nails. Trees with these items left on them may be rejected from recycling drop of
Residents of the following areas may take their Christmas to these drop off sites:
Aurora-Drop offs accepted until January 13th at Del Mar Park, Olympic Park and Saddle Rock Golf Course
Boulder- Trees are accepted 24 hours a day at Western Disposal at 5880 Butte Mill Rd. until January 31st.
Englewood- Drop offs are accepted at Bates/Logan Park, Centennial Park, Belleview Park and Miller Field until January 31st.
Denver- residents can place Christmas trees on their curbs from January 6-17 and a truck will come by to pick them up and take them to a recycling center.
Westminster – residents can take Christmas trees to the lower parking lot of the City Park Fitness Center until January 20th.
Most cities will make the mulch created from these trees available to residents free of charge.

Recycling centers may request to see a driver’s licensed or utility bill to prove residence in that particular city.
