"Darn garage door quit working while we were moving in." is what my client started with on the phone. Then proceeds to tell me that while trying to get the garage door opener working again the entire mechanism fell from the garage ceiling and the garage door came crashing down.
I can't exactly say the scene and words that came to my mind while he was telling me this story.
I called the home warranty company, who said they would send someone out the following day. A new garage door opener, new garage door and some new drywall in the garage is what it is going to do to fix this. I still don't understand how this could happen 4 days after closing and a home inspection just being done.
All I have to say though is I am thankful for the home warranty. I know my clients are thankful for it too. I actually purchase this for my buyers for the first year of owning their home. It is my closing gift to them. Then it is up to them to renew the home warranty for the future. This is one story that I will be sharing with future clients who are reluctant for me to order a home warranty upon purchasing a home.
