Passing the real world test in Coweta County Georgia!

Passing the real world test in Coweta County Georgia by Richard WeisserThere are times when only a real world test will demonstrate whether or not a hypothesis is valid.

We often say things like “it should work” or “it’s built to code” but until the product or service survives the rigors of the real world, performance can only be our best guess.

Over the last two days we have experienced the coldest temperatures in twenty years here in Coweta County Georgia. About half of the homes in our county have been built since then!

Combined with penetrating winds many of these houses were subjected to their first real world testing under the most extreme condition.

I am happy to report that my house, built in 2000, did not have any issues with the cold temperatures. Others were not so lucky and many homeowners are dealing with burst pipes and flooding.

Now I know that my house is safe down to a wind chill of minus ten degrees.

So I am good for now.

That is, until the next record-breaking cold spell!

Richard, I'm thinking the same thing. Our house, just south of Nashville, built in 2007, has held up pretty well! No pipe problems and the heat was pretty constant!

Good to hear Richard...-12 right now and windy giving us a warm -25.

I feel sorry for those in the southern climes as they are not even close to being ready for any weather like this.

same here Richard.  I was cold last night and with the fireplace and occassionally popping up the furnance to 70 it was still a bit cooler inside last evening than I liked it.  But hopefully things will be back to normal again tonight.

Richard, Amen! So glad to hear your home and you survived the extreme cold temperatures.  We've been experiencing record high temps in my area. I am beginning to wonder if Mr. Winter will visit us this year.

Richard - My home survived intact as well. Always scary to see if ultra cold weather will be a problem. Always nice to see that it wasn't!

Richard, my house was built in the late 80s and we survived just fine. Glad you had no problems either.
