The ActiveRain team has a world view os as they call it a Weltanschauung. Now even after hearing it pronounced it was tough to say. Well let's face it I couldn't say it. It was much harder than Fahrvergnugen. However, what is important is that in ActiveRain it is comprised of 10 statements. The last one, number 10, is - ActiveRain believes that it is in the best interests of real estate professionals to build a community that is focused on educating one another.
Now as a "newbie" to ActiveRain I understand I may be in my honeymoon period. Its new, colorful, interesting and interactive. But most of all it is a community. In fact it is very similar to a big real estate family. Yes even as dysfunctional as a family at times too, but family all the same. While we all may be physically spread out, when we get into this virtual world, we are all in the same home.
It may take a village to raise a baby but here it takes a community to help raise a Realtor. There are people in this community with more than 40 years if RE experience and some with barely 40 days. The best part is we get to help people find their success in real estate and often get to do it together. While the other agent(s) involved in of our transactions may not be from the AR community it is very easy to invite them. If people really take the time to read the blog posts, you are going to find an education you can't buy from Champions, Kaplan, NAR or anywhere else. Outside of your own school of hard knocks, you are not going to get a better understanding of the real world of real estate (well at least primarily residential real estate.)
Sharing your knowledge here in this community provides you as the author the opportunity to be found by others and hopefully many potential clients. The more you share the more you can be found. The real beneficiary of this information are the people who stop and read it. We get an education about many issues that we will run across at some point in our career. By AR providing a platform that provides an incentive to share your knowledge, you the members of the community have created its own real estate encyclopedia.
Think about it, that little search area in the upper right is your ticket to years of information you cannot find anywhere else. You have thousands of years of combined experience (wow I suddenly feel old) being shared among thousands of real estate agents, brokers, clients, mortgage brokers, lenders, inspectors, and on and on. This community provides a 360 degree view of the real estate industry.
However, just like an encyclopedia, it is located in its own building or as I stated in the beginning, in our home. If you don;t take the time to pull the encyclopedia off the shelf, open it and start to look through it you might as well have a paperweight. I urge you to take advantage of your encyclopedia and learn something new each day or week or achieve some learning goal and set new ones. As you continue to learn from others take the time to share your knowledge and help us continue to build a community that has a focus on educating each other.
