The Evolution of Marketing....Are You Pulling or Still Pushing?

By
Home Stager with Sharon Tara Transformations

I just read an excellent post by Tina Parker, Did The Internet Change The Approach of Your Marketing Message?  It's about how the internet has changed marketing technique....Push advertising vs. Pull advertising.

Tina raises a good question, and yet she only has a couple of comments, both from home stagers. I am surprised that no agents have chimed in.

I think the post deserves more attention, but it's "Members Only" so I can't reblog it.

Take a moment to read Tina's post and share your thoughts.

Sharon,

Pull marketing has been around for a while.  "Back in the day" it meant writing an article and submitting it to a periodical and hoping it got published.  Or perhaps, making a speech at the local rotary club.

The tools have certainly changed but the concept has not. I'll take pull over push any day.

Cheers,

Tom

Sharon - Tina has got an excellent point.  I never thought of it this way before. I've always approached marketing in a 'karma' fashion and it's so the order of business in todays online world.  I suggested the post so let's hope it get's out there as it's a very good way of looking at marketing.

Sharon,

We have been big fans of pull always...Push always reminds me of the perfume aisles at stores where they are offering to spray you, or magazines that have a tear out to smell the latest and greatest.  A

Thomas:  I wasn't familiar with either expression!  I knew agents must be, so I hoped they would chime in.

Randy:  I just felt it really deserved more attention.

Anna:  I suggested it too...would love to see it Featured.

Alexandra:  I'm very sensitive to scent...those sprayers at the stores are a real annoyance to me.

I will check it out.  I've always been a fan of pull marketing.  That (long term) almost always seems to be the more profitable and better business approach.  At least that's what we learned in b school and at P&G in the 90's.
