Resolutions, Is the Gym Half Full or Half Empty?

Resolution Defined: The act or process of resolving; as the act of determining. With that thought in mind, when it comes to resolutions and keeping them we need to be determined whatever our goal is. I was inspired by a recent post that was more on the negative side when it comes to resolutions. I want to talk about the gym being half full rather than half empty which is more on the positive side.

Yes I have made my resolution or determination to get healthy and in shape. You see I'm not out of shape I'm just not in shape. I just don't feel and look my best and I have resolved with myself to change that. For years I've work out but not consistently. What I mean is that I will work out for three months and then quit. But I'm fine with that because I realize that it's better than not at all.

In my opinion if you can do your resolution for even a short period you are doing better than those who don't do anything. What I don't do is wait for the new year to start. I'll wait for the new month to start because now you have 12 months to start compared to one. I've read somewhere that if you can do something for 30 days you can make it habit. I don't know for sure if this is true but it sounds good. If we can keep our resolutions just for three months your a winner. Take three months off and try again or not. At least you did something and you can't be knock down for trying.

My last thought on this subject. I've been doing the P90X for two weeks now and I'm really enjoying it but most of all I feel so much better just in a couple of weeks. This program is only for, yes you guessed it, three months. So then instead of looking at the gym half empty be positive and look at the gym half full. Just do your best and as long as you can. You can always start again the next month.

Hello Mike, I like your ideas.  All or nothing makes one feel like they cannot really succeed.  Each part is an accomplishment and if we finish a section and enjoy it, we have succeeded and can move to another level.  Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Deborah. Good thought 'all or nothing'. That's probably it in a nut shell.
