FAITH FIRST...Fran’s Friday Forum...!!!

How’s that for a bunch of “F” words...!!!

More seriously, however, is the concern I have for what our Country has become...

A land of FREEDOM and INDEPENDENCE has become a ‘NANNY’ state where individual freedoms and personal privacy have been ‘RIPPED OUT’ of daily living in these UNITED STATES...

We have become upside down in our political thinking...e.g.,

In Europe, hunters and shooters consider it impolite, and, in fact, RUDE to use a weapon without some form of SUPRESSOR (commonly known as ‘silencer’) so as to deaden the sound and protect the hearing of those in earshot of the shooting device...in our country, we have created laws practically forbidding the use of such devices, so that, even though 37 States now allow the use of SUPRESSORS, the FED has imposed a $200.00 dollar license fee to obtain one...this would bring the cost of a modestly priced handgun or rifle to double or triple what the firearm itself costs...!!!

Of course, a civil discussion of the matter understands that most gun owners are honest and law abiding, and crimes committed with firearms are usually committed with the use of stolen or black market weapons...

Nevertheless, our present administration is spending tons of money we don’t even have to try to circumvent the SECOND AMENDMENT...all under the PHONEY and oft proven error of REDUCING CRIME...

Take a look at the so called ‘BLUE VOTING REGIONS' controlled by the liberals, where crime is at its peak, and try to justify the current liberal trend to control our right ‘TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS’...

Of course the CONSTITUTION was written by people of FAITH...and those types of PEOPLE OF FAITH are sorely missing from our present day political scene...

Those of us who claim to be PEOPLE OF FAITH need to set the correct priorities for the rest...GOD FIRST, OTHERS SECOND, OURSELVES LAST...

When we get our PRIORITIES back in proper order, then, and only then, will we  begin to see our BELOVED COUNTRY return to its roots where FREEDOM AND INDEPENDENCE are PARAMOUNT...

I pray it is not too late...!!!

Have a BLESSED WEEKEND, and may GOD GIVE US TRUE PEACE...!!!

Fran,

Interesting information. I had never thought about the use of suppressors on hunting weapons before.

Trisha,

Unfortunately, the one thing our politicians are good at is SUPRESSING GOOD INFORMATION...!!!

Thanks,   Fran

Umm, the most dangerous states (per capita) are South Carolina, Tennessee, Nevada, Florida, Louisiana and Arizona. That looks pretty "red" to me.

The safest? Bluest of Blue...the Northeast (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, etc).

The relationship between low income/low education and higher crime rates has been well documented...not more lenient or tougher gun laws. And the only gun control legislation supported by the current administration is closing the background check loopholes for purchasing guns on-line and at gun shows....legislation that well over 85% of Americans want, btw.

Karl,

Respectfully, your 'talking points' obscure the truth.

I invite you to try to buy a gun online and tell me 'how easy it was'...!!!

And I accept your low income/low education stats, but then why do we try to cure that problem with gun laws...Shouldn't we adress the problem at its roots...???

How is imposing unjust and freedom sucking laws on law abiding citizens fair...???

Thanks,   Fran

You wrote: "Take a look at the so called ‘BLUE VOTING REGIONS' controlled by the liberals, where crime is at its peak."  Crime statistics provided by the FBI directly dispute that claim.

Guns On-line?...buyers can purchase from private sellers (thereby ensuring that no background checks is required)...http://www.armslist.com/

Karl,

You wrote, 'Umm, the most dangerous states (per capita) are South Carolina, Tennessee, Nevada, Florida, Louisiana and Arizona.'

I'd feel safer walking around in any of those states than in Illinois, New York, Connecticut, Michigan, D.C....!!!

Let me tell you, if you buy any of those firearms privately, without a background check, you can be held liable for any crimes committed using those weapons...!!!

Please stop using anti gun lobby talking points and do your own research...!!!

Thanks,   Fran

But that's not what you said...you tried to make a claim of how dangerous "Blue States" are, I simply provided the facts. Then you implied that I couldn't buy a gun 'on-line' and showed you that yes, in fact you can...and it's NOT against the law.

I'm not using "anti-gun lobby" talking points, I'm using common sense. BTW, I started shooting when I was 10 years old and used to belong to the NRA...as a matter of fact I've still got my 'marksman' and 'pro-marksman' patches from back in the day. But the NRA is now a mouthpiece for the gun industry and caters to the conspiracy-minded demagogues that somehow have become mainstream Republicans with a wanton disregard of reality and embrace of doomsday prophecies....No thanks!

Karl,

Believe me, in Pennsylvania, you must go through a background check to legally purchase a firearm...internet or otherwise...!!!

Those who label others as 'conspiracy minded' are usually conspiracy minded.

Clearly, the most heavily populated, and usually liberal controlled, areas have the most comitted gun crimes...and a good percentage of those guns have been stolen or bought illegally...!!!

Thanks,   Fran

P.S. Why does Switzerland, a Country noted for being peaceful, advocate gun ownership for all citizens...???

Of course some states have more restrictive gun laws than others, which is why the Dem's in Congress tried to get nation-wide legislation passed on closing the loophole on background checks.

Sure...more people = more crime...but you can't just can't toss away per-capita crime rates because they run contrary to your argument.

Switzerlland does not have a standing army, instead opting for a people's militia for its national defense. The vast majority of men between the ages of 20 and 30 are conscripted into the militia and undergo military training, including weapons training. Which, IMHO is what OUR founders had in mind when writing the 2nd Amendment.

Karl,

Nice cover for your liberal friends, but call it what you will, Switzerland has an 'armed citizenry' and that is what our 2nd Amendment is all about...

Most people are law abiding; punish the criminals who use guns, but leave the rest of us alone...!!!

That's called Freedom...let it ring...!!!

Thanks,   Fran

P.S. I'd venture to say, I'm not a betting man, there are more 'guns' per capita in those 'red' areas than in the inner cities where gun crimes are at their highest...!!!

What do those stats say...???
