Can you believe this is really happening in Raleigh North Carolina. Our city council has make a law to ban all new garbage disposals and existing ones cannot be fixed or replaced or you could face a fine of up to $25,000. The wisdom behind this is to help with the water shortage and keep the sewer system clean. But of courses the City Council has no study or evidence to support this claim. What next? Well the real estate industry and homebuilder are trying to the council on passing higher impact fees and a possible end to tear-downs in certain area.

Lets see if we will remain one if not the only City to ban GARBAGE DISPOSALS.

I wonder how Lowes, 84 Lumber, Home Depot, Wal-mart, K-Mart, and other home appliance and furnishings stores are going to take this news. Sounds like it cound be unfair restraint of trade.

Are you sure you don't live in California? That sounds like one of their goofy laws. I would like to see the evidence that garbage disposals cause more water to be used. Just remember who voted on this thing come election time.

Hmm ... is Raleigh starting to resemble the "People's Republics" of San Francisco & Boulder?  What other goofy laws are on the books or proposed there?

This is crazy! I heard about this coming into effect - but who are we to complain? We put these people into office, no? If we don't like what they're doing to our dear city, we know what we have to do. Vote them out!

Bill,
What!  I think there are more efficient and wiser ways to conserve water.  Pretty crazy!  So have they appointed garbage disposal police?

Making Connections to Success in Real Estate

Hi Bill - I should have looked to see if any one already posted about our charming proposed ban on garbage disposals before I wrote on it this morn.  If it weren't so potentially serious it would be hilarious!

There's a petition out there right now - sounds like folks aren't to enthralled with our Raleigh City Council right now...
