I did an inspection last week for an "in training inspector" on a home occupied by an "inspector still considering classes". The inspection went well and they received my standard report, and realized there was a little more to inspecting than they first thought. Then I went to a Realtors association event titled "the secrets of success", and found a few more recent inspection school graduates with less than a dozen inspections under their belts, passing out home printed cards to the Realtors I have known for years and a lot of rookie realtors seeking advice from the veteran realtors in the room. Lastly, I have been getting calls from "home inspector students" wanting to ride along and asking advice. I give them some general advice, answer questions and wish them well.
I have had to work hard for 11 years getting to where I am now in the industry and am a bit reluctant to give it away for someone that wants to hop on the bandwagon and make a quick buck, but I suppose that's what happens during good times. Thankfully, most of my contacts realize the value of experience and appreciate my work.
