Just My Opinion on Virtual Tours!

There is no question that virtual tours are a useful tool in homes sales.  They have been around for some time and they are pretty mainstream by now. I understand and appreciate that they cost some money, but if you are going to provide a virtual tour, it behooves you to do it correctly!!

Let's start with what is the WRONG way!!  I was searching for a home for myself today...don't ask where because I am looking in three states!  I am single and most of my work and research are performed online, so I can live anywhere.  Anyway, I see a home on a realtor's website and it supposedly had 25 photos and a lot of information.

The twenty five shots were really about 6 photos since most of them were shots from slightly varying camera angles and they were all taken from far away - similar to online dating photos LOL.

Soooo, I notice that there is a virtual tour!! Super!!  I click on the virtual tour.....and to my dismay, the virtual tour is nothing more than a slideshow of the same useless photos!! A slide show is not a virtual tour. A photo album is not a virtual tour either!

I am reminded of the age - old adage...if you are going to do something, do it correctly!  If you are going to advertise a service (virtual tours), provide a virtual tour!!

I've also seen some pretty shaky virtual tours that look unprofessional. I'd rather see a well-produced slide show.

sometimes I think that it is better to do nothing (not post a virtual tour) than it is to do supply a lousy tour

I agree.

Got a new video camera for Christmas, but don't intent to do any video posting until I master the process.
