While working an open house this weekend I realized I probably should have taken the weekend off. My knee has
been giving me all sorts of problems and I probably could have used the rest. However I made a commitment and I am certainly going to keep it. In addition, I am going to make sure I do it as best I can. I grab my signs, I have all my information ready to display, I am properly prepped and ready to meet some people.
Open House Traffic
The open house goes well with lots of traffic. There are some interested buyers and even some buyers who are not currently being represented. This is what I would call a great open house. However, moving around the house all day, answering questions, taking are of a small emergency (pool water too low) and making sure everyone is being taken caref of can take its toll. By the time the end of the open house came I was ready to go home. My knee was throbbing and I had additional follow up with my potential clients.
There was one woman with her daughter. who were back from yesterday's visit, still checking things out. I waited patiently and they left. I closed up shop at 15 minutes past the hour. Went all around the home to check locks, thermostat and lights. I carried out my briefcase and what was left of my bottled water and chips I bring to feed the guests. I locked up the house about 30 minutes after I the time it was supposed to end, pulled the sign and was putting it in the back of my SUV when two cars pull up. It was three couples with a child. What do you do?
Go the Extra Mile
You do the right thing and go the extra mile. You open the home and let them see the home. They felt bad and I assured them that it was fine. Before I even had the key out of the box, they asked the price and found out it was
about double what they wanted to spend. I asked if they still wanted to see the house as you can learn a lot just by looking. They agreed and we all went in to view the home. The husbands actually preferred speaking with me than viewing the home. The women went exploring the home.
I think because I treated them with respect and went the extra step to let them in after hours, they realized that I may be different from other sales people. Now they are working with me and I have already sent them a listing the better fits what they are searching for in Frisco Texas. AFter speaking with them and even reviewing the list with them, they realize that this is not going to be a simple search. They are asking for a lot but if they are patient and persevere they may just be able to get what they are looking for in a new home.
Because they are now my client they know what all my clients know: Their Success is My Focus
