Recently I got to the movies unexpectedly. My husband wanted to see Lone Survivor and I didn't recognize the title. I asked who was in it and he said Mark Wahlberg so I was fine with the movie. I love Mark Wahlberg, I think he is a terrific actor whether in a comedy or a drama.
WELL...if you haven't seen this movie and are thinking about it you may want to rethink it. It is not for the faint of heart. I didn't realize until I was halfway through the movie that I already knew this story. I had seen it on either 60 Minutes or 20/20 in great detail. I spent the whole 2nd half of the movie in tears. This movie is based on the true story of what happened to 4 navy seals on a mission in Afghanistan (as well as others) in 2005.
I know many, many people in the armed forces and this movie gives you a whole new appreciation for what your loved ones are doing for this country. I think even the toughest personality will have trouble watching this film. I think it was well done and the acting was excellent but it will forever be imprinted on my mind. Definitely not for kids.
My heart goes out to the families of the people mentioned in this movie and to all families with loved ones in the armed forces.
