A Day at the Zoo

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Venture Realty International

In my blog yesterday i mentioned the San Diego Zoo and my visit there.  I also promised to show a few of my favorite photos from the zoo.  And here they are:

I really enjoyed the giraffes.  The baby giraffe was extremely cute and was born December 22, so she is not even a month old. I was amazed to learn that she was 6 feet 1 inch tall (185.4 cm) and weighed157 pounds (71 kg) when she was born and by the age of six months may be seven feet six inches(229 cm) and weigh 500 pounds (227 kg).

This cub was a major hit at the children's zoo.  There were so many kids watching that it was almost impossible to get close enough to get a photo.

And this turtle had another long, longt neck, so  I guess giraffes aren't the only ones with long necks.

The grizzly bear shared his enclosure with a sleeping brother

And one more cutie;

.And of course every zoo has to have elephants.

Any way, the San Diego Zoo is well worth an afternoon or a day.  In fact it would be easy to spend many days there looking at all the great exhibits. I missed the pandas and the polar bears and I did not get the photos I wanted of the rhinoceroses and the koalas.  Maybe next time.  And i promise more photos if I do get another visit.

Of course there are so many other attractions in Southern California and Northern Mexico that it might be a while.

Thanks for sharing your day at the zoo. Giraffes are odd looking creatures, but they are perfectly built for their food source.

Great photos of the San Diego zoo Gary.  The last time I was there was probably the late 1980's but I really enjoyed it.  The gorilla exhibit was very cool.

Hi Gary,

I go to the zoo in SD every year or two but you got some great photos. Usually when I am there, the cats are sleeping and others are hiding. Great post and hope you had a wonderful time.

Gary, the shots of the giraffes are just great!  So nice to see that people are able to go out and enjoy sunshine somewhere in the USA.

I love the first shot, Gary! A sweet baby giraffe! I've never seen one try to eat off the ground because they are usually so high up! The San Diego Zoo seems like a wonderful place to visit!

Hi Gary Coles , Nice photos from the San Diego Zoo.  Gosh that turtle sure has a long neck hope he/she has enough room back in it's shell for those times it has to retreat!

Hope all is well!

Happy Autumn.

Hi Gary Coles , Thanks for showing us your photos of the San Diego Zoo.  I was there 60 years ago. I've never seen a turtle with a long neck like that before.
