Yesterday was my first day volunteering with “Meals on Wheels”. What a wonderful experience. I’ve been wanting to do it for years and just recently decided and committed to do it. At first I was hesitant because of the time commitment but as REALTOR's we are so blessed to have some flexibility to be able to schedule volunteering into our schedules. Like our daily business activities, we need to time block some volunteer/service time as well.
Meals on Wheels provides nutritious, freshly prepared, hot meals to Dallas County residents who can't provide for themselves due to illness, advanced age or disability.
First organized in 1957 as a pilot project by the Women’s Council of Dallas County, they now have over 4,000 volunteers. The meals are prepared in the Beatrice M. Haggerty Kitchen, and every year one million meals are delivered to homebound seniors or served at senior centers in Dallas County – truly amazing!
