Developers have just closed on what will be the Beach area's newest Development named Atlantic Beach Country Club. The former Selva Marina Clubhouse, pool and tennis courts are to be razed to build the new Clubhouse, Pool and Tennis Courts and make way for 178 new homes at the Beach.
The 170 acres that belonged to Selva Marina Country Club was purchased for $4.3 million, according to the article in the Jacksonville Business Journal. Selva Marina has been around since the 1970s, and is a very popular Beach Golf Country Club community.
There will be 178 new homes offered for sale, which is a rare opportunity anywhere at the Beach. Lot prices will range from $165,000 to $475,000, with finished homes ranging from $500,000 to $1,000,000, according to Rick Wood of Wood Development. Wood pointed out that these prices are much lower than tearing down and rebuilding, which is the only other opportunity for new construction at Atlantic Beach.
Lot sizes will range from 55 feet to 80 feet wide and most of them will have either golf course or waterfront views. Site development will begin in late January, and includes a new golf course along with the other amenities at a cost of $12 million. The new course and country club are expected to open later this year.
Atlantic Beach is located north of Atlantic Boulevard, bordering Neptune Beach to the South. The two Beach communities have cultivated a very charming shopping area. The prestigious One Ocean Hotel on the Ocean is home to Azurea, a top restaurant in the Jacksonville area. The Chef has been invited twice to cook for the James Beard Institute in New York and is one of 19 Jacksonville chefs named to a Top Chefs book for American chefs. Other placess in the area include Poe's, home of simply the Best hamburger in town, Starbuck's, and Peterbrooke Chocolatiere. There are really just too many cute places to name them all.
Aside from the quaint shopping street, Atlantic Beach is a residential beach town, with homes on the ocean and in the town. Neptune Beach is much the same, but further south, Jacksonville Beach is the rocking place to go for night life and great restaurants in the 'South Beach' area.
