Bachman Wilson House, Frank Lloyd Wright

NW Arkansas has been touted in many publications for its quality of life, and a major factor contributing to that has been the recent addition of the Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville.

Crystal Bridges of American Art celebrates American artists, past and present. It opened on 11/11/11 at 11:00 a.m. and after two years has made a definite difference in tourist visits to the area, as well as educational and social programs for both school children and adults.

The newest acquisition of the museum is a home by Frank Lloyd Wright, which will be relocated to the grounds of the museum from New Jersey. The Bachman Wilson House in Somerset, NJ, has evidently been flooded many times in its present location and the recommendation has been to relocate the house in order to preserve its structure. However, I don't think anyone had in mind to move it half way across the country.

Nevertheless, I think it's an imaginative acquisition on the part of the museum and a way to preserve the work of a great American Artist.
