Heart Healthy Tips

  • Optimize Vitamin D Levels: Approximately 50 percent of the healthy North American population and 80 percent of those with chronic diseases are vitamin D deficient. Studies have shown that people with the lowest average vitamin D levels had a 124 percent greater risk of death from all causes and a 378 percent greater risk of dying from a heart problem!

  • Eat a healthy diet: Your diet should be mainly vegetables, proteins, healthy fats (olive oil, avocado, coconut oil), and fruits. Eat raw as much as possible. Limit or eliminate all together, corn, gluten and other grains, added sugars, and dairy.

  • Exercise regularly: Studies show that interval training and weight lifting optimize results while minimizing damage from free-radicals.

  • Take Fish Oil: Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects and lower triglycerides by as much as 25-30 percent.

  • Do all you can to reduce stress and enjoy life: Stress causes cortisol levels to rise, and chronically increased cortisol levels can lead to weight gain in your midsection, which increases your risk for heart disease.

I am watching my health very closely.   Although there is not a lot of heart issues in my family, at my age I am at the greatest risk.

I lost 20 pounds in the last year.   this year I am increasing my excercise routine.
